PS5 Restock Tracker Latest Update: Check PlayStation 5 Stock At Major Retailers

We're tracking PS5 and PS5 Digital restocks in real time.

It's fo been a relatively quiet week for PS5 restocks, whether you were looking for the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital. Outside of a restock for Walmart+ members--which sold out very quickly--we haven't seen any other restocks at major retailers. Last week, PlayStation Direct did have another invite-only PS5 restock. One of your best bets to get a console is to make sure you're registered for restock emails via PS Direct--you could wind up getting an opportunity to purchase the PS5 by invitation. Up until the last few weeks, it was normal to see a few restocks each week at retailers such as Best Buy and GameStop. Hopefully PS5 restocks will start picking up again soon at major retailers.

To hopefully help you secure a PS5, we've rounded up all of the retailer listings for the PS5 and PS5 Digital in one place. We'll continue to update this article every time a restock goes live at a major retailer. Most restocks still take place online, but occasionally retailers such as Best Buy and GameStop announce in store restocks. Additionally, some recent PS5 restocks have been limited to members of various subscription programs at major retailers, including Amazon Prime, Walmart+, Best Buy Totaltech, and GameStop PowerUp Rewards Pro.

I honestly thought this console shortage was at an end? Had my ps5 for a long time ow and while it took me some serious effort to track one down, I'm glad I managed. I was hoping the scalping would've calmed down a bit for those still searching. Sadly it seems to be a catching trend. I've always been against it, though a friend of mine who ordered both a ps5 and Xbsx decided to sell his ps5 himself after he got it and added £150 onto the retail price, needless to say he never managed to sell it and now has both. Just shows that even some with 'high morals' can easily see the money signs and screw their own principles.

To those still searching, dont lose hope, they're out there, just gotta be patient and keep your eyes peeled.

I finally got a PS5 the other day, because a Verizon store near me had several in stock, and I just happened upon it. It’s nice that that store hasn’t been advertising it. There wasn’t a line or anybody else trying to get one.

A friend of mine was even able to go get one a couple days later. That’s how it should be. I’m a believer in the idea that stores shouldn’t announce restocks. People should just check different places from time to time, and stumble on them. You wouldn’t have to deal with bots or the douchebag scalpers lining up outside, overnight.

Scalpers are the scum of the earth. Buying these to resell them is not “just business.” If a bunch of billionaires got together and went out and bought up every car at every dealership in the country, to resell them at a 50%-75% markup, would that just be business? No. Creating artificial scarcity is not “just business.”

@stickemup: If people weren't willing to pay a premium to get them, the prices wouldn't be what they are.

It is "just business."

@stickemup: There is strict laws against private people from buying up autos, land, resources, certain currencies, even many services... but there has to be enough out cry for lawmakers to create and or change laws. Like for instance scalping sports tickets, concert, etc only became illegal after enough pressure and lobbying changed laws.

But now .... there is the first use laws that have been around for hundred of years and in most countries... .basically it allows anyone who legally buys a product... like say a lawn mower, to own it (that is very important) actual ownership, who can then modify it, re-paint it, sup it up, put bigger tires, add some attachments, etc and then to ..... re-sale it, or pass on its owner ship to another, like say a family or friend or cat...

Being able to resale something you have purchased is one of the benefits of democracy, it allows people the right to not only own, but also to resale, or pass on the ownership- while it can be complex this is very important to self determination as well as benefits the consumer.

So scalpers suck balls, we all know that, but it is upon the companies to prevent scalpers as much as possible allowing consoles and gfx cards to reach those who need them... well want them. Then if a person does not want a console that was say, given to them, allows them to resale it, barter it, trade it, or donate it ... in order to get a console they they may want.... or at least get a hand job behind a Denny's... hey that is how craigs list works, right?...

If you think about it, it's ridiculous that even after being released for a year it is still difficult to buy a brand new ps5. People can hate on Intel but I'm glad they are building a new chip fabrication factory in Ohio.

They should sell the console for $ 100 dollars due to the price of games.

And Xbox should raise the price of the console due to the price of games.

I know where at least 5 PLAYSTATION 5 are at right now if no one brought them. I thought about buying them myself then flipping them but there isn't enough money to be made of them at this time. However I love my series X and that's good enough for me at this time, I don't really like Sony as a company either so to give them my money is just something that I'm not prepared to do at this point.

My girlfriend got one off Walmart plus, random asked me at noon one day “hey do you want a PS5?”, and a few minutes later she had bought it. No idea what she did but 10 days later it was sitting on my doorstep.

It’s the disk version too.

I'd rather a original PS2 then a ps5, I dunno there's something nostalgic about it playing PS1 and PS2 games right from the box, would be expensive that model, especially the phat PS3.

Xox series s is a beast, but a bit slow in certain areas then Xbox one X, given the bandwidth.

I have never connected the series X(2020 edition) to a 4k TV, quick resume£ enough for me.

It’s funny how much harder it is to get a PS5 over a Series S or X. Several places that I’ve gone to have even had signs that said, “Sorry. We’re out of PS5s.” They don’t mention Xbox, because that’s not what people are really trying to get.

@stickemup: SeS are easy to find, but SeX isn't. I was in Best Buy and Target yesterday and they both had signs that they only have SeS in stock.

@thecupidstunts: This is true. Series X is nowhere to be found. Goes to show, that there's really not much of a demand for the Series S.

@Zombie8814: So I hate to be THAT person, (you know the one, who thinks everything is a conspiracy), but I do wonder about this. I wonder if MS isn't maybe intentionally focusing more on the SeS right now, (I feel like this could be reasonably plausible for a few reasons).

Since the SeS is digital only, it would almost certainly drive more GamePass subs, (especially considering how ridiculously overpriced digital games are on the MS storefront). I also believe that maybe MS thinks that people might get a SeS now as a stopgap until they can get a SeX, (I know some might think that people wouldn't be so silly as to double dip, but gamers can be very impatient, and I've seen plenty of people who say they are doing that exact thing). The SeS consoles are readily available in stores, but the numbers don't lie, they are definitely selling. So that makes it seem that MS is producing many more SeS systems than SeX systems.

I don't know if MS would be that devious, but I wouldn't put it past any company to look at things that way, (it's all about the money).

I got a PS5 and an XBX a few months ago and it's not easy.

It requires a little patience during the drops as the stock goes in an out as people drop from pages and Browsers crash.

Here's how I got it. (True story. This is not an add. The guy mentioned below does not sell anything).

1 - Signed up for Twitter

2 - Added @mattswider as my only contact and setup to receive notifications from his account. Matt Swider live tweets and even does some live youtube stuff during retailer drops.

3 - Tried to get it a few times, failed. Finally got what I wanted.

4 - Deleted Tweeter as I have no use for social media.

--- I also signed up for Sony Direct/Playstation Direct, but i got mine from Walmart before receiving a reservation email ---

@dirtydyk: I agree, it's not easy. I would say, when pre-orders came out last year, that was probably the easiest time to get a PS5 and Xbox. I got mines on day one, but I see it's still a challenge, which sucks for the ones that really want both systems and don't want to overpay. I wish everyone the best of luck acquiring the system they want.

I just got one Thursday, the lazy way. I signed up on Playstation Direct a few weeks back, got an email day before. I sat down at work, and set my alarm for 1:55 pm est. It went off, I went to the link in email, and at 2pm exact... started up. Beyond a couple hard to do captchas, I was in within 7minutes. There were only disc PS 5 consoles or else the digital ones are sold out. Filled out billing and shipping.

I already had a game in cart, because you get free shipping when you buy something with a console and orders over $50 without a console. So basically I got a new game for $30 off instead of paying shipping for a console. 1-3 business days.

Altogether it was 2:09pm est, and I didn't even have to go anywhere or wait a long time, in a queue. Pretty nice. I then spent the next few hours, high fiving anyone who would....., while the rest of the work place was wondering what I was doing.

At least until these other stores and their bundles go away, I feel that Playstation Direct, will eventually supply a MSRP console. I am not sure how their list goes, whether it is random, or by how long you have hand an account, or just a first one in first one out. I wish everyone here luck.

This is so pointless. The only way PS5s will ever stay in stock is if people stop buying them from scalpers for way over retail price.

@tOrchie: I also think that those of us in the know have to spread the word that major retailers are helping the damn scalpers. Go to Walmart and search for PS5 or X1X and they'll happily connect you with scalpers. I feel bad for the grandmas who get fooled, thinking that's just what they cost. How many scalpers have made how much money off of those grandmas this time of year? And why? Because Walmart and Newegg enable it.

Instead of hating on or praising consoles in the product reviews, we should go to all those listings on "Walmart marketplace" or whatever they call the scalpers and write "Don't do it, grandma! It should only cost $499!"

@olddadgamer: You know you are right heck Amazon and New Egg does too as they have third party sellers on their site. I got my PS5 free of charge by my son as he had two of them. It is sure is a shame these scalpers are selling them above MRSP but there stay in power as long as people are willing to pay the fee or Sony floods the market with PS5s which may not happen soon no time soon.

@tOrchie: The good news is that due to tax changes starting in 2022, scalping will be less lucrative. Common resale sites like Amazon, Etsy, Ebay, etc., will require bank accounts, social security numbers, and a host of other information in order to comply with the $600 minimum reporting threshold for 1099 issuance (it's currently $20,000 for most states).

So basically... resale site eats up ~20%, uncle Sam eats up ~30%, and a scalper is left with little actual profit, even selling for 2x as retail.

@CyberEarth: Yes that would be great because it is not just consoles being sold by scalpers, the Video card market is affected by them as well. This so frustrating that I gave up on getting a new video card because I refuse to pay double or triple what it is worth and just wait it out.

@rolento25: I do not have to worry about it now as I got PS5 free and I paid MRSP for my Xbox Bundle. So the hunt is over for me and I am not looking for the next generation as I am out of the console race being too old. Time to something else and retirement. I just hope all others will get what they want soon but that is a pipe dream.:(

@tOrchie: No, I'm specifically talking about the $1400 stimulus package bill already passed on March 11, 2020 and signed into law by Joe Biden. It's part of the American Rescue Plan. You can Google it, it's there.

It's not a "new" tax in that all income should be reported to the IRS regardless; but many people do not, and it wasn't forced for electronic companies or marketplaces to do so. In 2022, it will be at the $600 mark. That in essence, will put scalpers in a bit of bind as they probably don't report income from scalping to the IRS (my opinion). I personally don't know any scalpers, so my opinion is probably biased and anecdotal - but the provision in the ARP isn't, it's law!

@tOrchie: I had no issues. Sunday I decided I'd look for a PS5. So I want to one of those Console restock twitter accounts and found out Gamestop was having a restock on Monday. So I waited for the store to open, and started calling every 40 mins to see if they got stock. 2 and half hours later I had a PS5 in hand.

@rolento25: It is good to have one, Gamestop Power holders has access to them as well but they are mostly sold in bundles and you have to be quick as those sell out quickly. I got mine for a birthday gift from my son. I was lucky to get a Xbox Bundle from Gamestop being a Power Rewards member and I must have grabbed the last one as soon as I did I went back in and the bundle was unavailable. But I spoke with a Rep he said they get them in at 10 and it is over at 11.

I'll probably be able to buy one easily at MSRP when the PS6 comes out.

Or Ebay can ban the resale of certain "new" electronic items over 10% MSRP for the first 5 years.

Nah...this situation is much better.
